Live Beijing Music breaks in the Year of the Pig with a potbellied feast for the ears – a succulent offering of this year’s newest and most alluring sounds that cross all genres. Cold wave, psychedelic folk, noise punk, electronic, and then some – it’s gonna be a hell of a night.
Li Nan, known to most as the co-founder and drummer for indie rock band Da Bang, breaks free with of his sizzling solo electronic project LST – a simmering atmospheric journey chock full of ‘multiple layers, playful rhythms, deep bass lines and deeper bass textures, sharp arrangements with a lot of contrasts and curves, and many acid moments that capture the listener, and change the vibe in your space and refresh it’. The artist released his debut last year on Modern Sky to much applause and has been getting his feet wet on stage recently.
Bye Bye Fish, the avant-garde folk project formed by the leading duo behind the beloved punk outfit SUBS are back with a vengeance! After years in hibernation, the y return looking to bewitch audiences with their hypnotic, enchanting, and sometimes malevolence songs that feel like they’ve emerged from a dark fairy tale – or better yet, deep space where their souls will burn for eternity.
Made up of three hip female illustrators Sourtower is as cool as they come – a sultry, feverish nightmare pop band that teeters on the edge of madness with its cold wave facade, psychedelic soundscapes, and post punk attitude. It’s groovy, heavy, and unsettling in the best possible way.
Last but not least, UNIT comes charging full steam ahead with their riotous combustible noise punk. The band made up of three veteran musicians of the scene – Richard (Low Bow), Shirtless Mike (Mammals, Social Boar, Incisors), Dan (Luv Plastic, Death Narcissist) – focuses on short, sharp, pop delights based around misspelled phrases and bad puns’.

Bye Bye Fish, the avant-garde folk project formed by the leading duo behind the beloved punk outfit SUBS are back with a vengeance! Named after one of acclaimed British sci-fi author Douglas Adam’s finest lines of literature (you know it) and always shrouded in masks, they make their return after of years in hibernation, looking to bewitch audiences with their hypnotic, enchanting, and sometimes malevolence songs that feel like they’ve emerged from a dark fairy tale – or better yet, deep space where their souls will burn for eternity.

“拜拜⻥鱼”的两位成员演出时总是以 ⾯面具示⼈人,并不不在任何官⽅方的宣传中说 明各⾃自的名字。他们的真实身份是两位 资深艺术家,共同拥有另⼀一⽀支历时15年年 的著名朋克摇滚乐队,颇受媒体关注, 深得歌迷推崇,历年年世界巡回演出;他 们也从事电影、游戏配乐⼯工作;也是国 内多种艺术活动场景中的重要组成
“拜拜⻥鱼”的雏型开始于⼏几年年前,曾试演不不⾜足⼗十场,但⽴立刻拥有⼀一批忠实歌迷, 并在⼤大型户外⾳音乐节压轴演出。随后⼏几年年暂停了了公开活动,厚积沉淀,两位成员 也在海海外游学中找到诸多意念,更更新完善编曲配器器。2018年年正式启动公演
“拜拜鱼”组合源自“拜拜，多谢你们的鱼”，出自英国科幻作家道格拉斯·亚当斯的“银河系漫游”五部曲（《银河系漫游指南》《宇宙尽头的餐馆》《生命、宇宙以及一切》《拜拜，多谢你们的鱼》《基本上无害》）。
“拜拜鱼”由SUBS乐队的抗猫和吴昊组成，演奏的是好听并且邪恶的歌曲，当然他们并不确定邪恶是什么，因为他们的灵魂在深空燃烧。

LST (electronic)
LST is the solo project of Li Sitong (Li Nan), also known as co-founder and drummer of Da Bang. LST has loved electronic music since he was in college, and since 2015 he has been exploring and developing his own sounds, he started to produced the first sketches of what has become now his first released. The production of Ex Ternal began in September of 2017 and it was finally ready to be released on March of last year by ModernSky label.
Ex Ternal contains five tracks each with multiple layers, playful rhythms, deep bass lines and deeper bass textures, sharp arrangements with a lot of contrasts and curves, and many acid moments that capture the listener, and change the vibe in your space and refresh it. LST said he is not completely satisfied with the result, however the listening of the EP is fun, it opens spaces to explore, acid cool spaces. I dig a lot the style, it’s already possible to feel LST own sound though we’ll see how LST evolves in his future releases and then we’ll know more of his music, for now Ex Ternal is a great beginning and a fun EP to listen to.
LST是DA BANG乐队的鼓手和创始成员之一李楠的个人电子乐项目。LST大学时就喜欢电子音乐。自2015年以来，他一直在探索和发展自己的音乐，那时他开始创作最早的作品，这些初稿后来成为了他第一次发行的歌曲。Ex Ternal的制作始于2017年9月，今年3月ModernSky唱片公司准备好发行这张专辑。

UNIT 单位乐队 (noise punk, experimental rock)
UNIT is a noise punk, experimental rock duo from the U.S.A. and Ireland. Mike (drum) & Richard (guitar & vocals) met at the end of 2018 and after a few jam sessions at a popular An Ding Men rehearsal rooms, decided to form what they describe as, ‘a semi-instrumental, power combo that focuses on short, sharp, pop delights based around misspelled phrases and bad puns’. The idea behind being somewhat, ‘instrumental’ came from the simple fact that as the tunes became faster and more complex, it became more of a challenge to Richard to actually sing and play at the same time. So, rather than deal with the pressure and put the work in, we decided to drop a lot of the singing.
In early 2019, UNIT plans to record their first e.p. and get busy with their first group of outside Beijing shows. Dan Lenk (of Luv Plastic, Death Narcissist) joined the team as well. With an emphasis on keeping things loose, spontaneous and fun, UNIT hopes that each show brings something new to the audience and themselves. Failing that, if you see them live at the very least you can say, ‘well, that was 25 mins’.
UNIT 是一支分别来自美国和爱尔兰常驻北京的后摇，实验朋克二人组合，成立于2018年10月。成员 Richard 和 Mike 分别担任吉他，噪音效果器和架子鼓。之所以乐队名字叫“UNIT”是因为这个词第一次听就感觉像是一个庞大的跨国企业，所以我们就用它了。我们的乐队即便仅有架子鼓和一把吉他，我们也能够演奏出一个很厚实的实验，硬摇滚，现代朋克氛围。刚开始没有刻意寻找一个明确的风格，更没有考虑该不该限制自己乐队成员为两个人。
经过了几次排练之后却发现其实架子鼓和吉他（再加上几块很普通的效果器）就够了。我们的歌曲都比较短，但都具有一定的冲击力。有几首也没有主唱，并不是因为不想唱歌，而是我们听完了我们排练的录音之后觉得其实这样的风格还蛮不错！有点像是一支后摇乐队，不过我们的歌的时长平均为2分钟。
不唱歌的话意味着可以专注我们的乐器，可以挑战自己尝试不同风格，在同一首歌里采用不同节奏。总之，不唱歌反而让我们的音乐边的更加有趣而且相对，也降低上台前的那种忐忑不安！
