Live Beijing Music helps DDC celebrate their 5th Year Anniversary with a sizzling riotous showcase featuring some of the scene’s most exciting new bands, including two very special guests from Shanghai and Shenzhen. We’re honored to welcome math rock indie outfit Shanghai Qiutian and art punk scrappers Thin City – two bands who exploded onto the scene this year with wonderfully realized debuts on Wild Records (out of Wuhan) and BoringProductions (out of Shenzhen). Joining them will be two new Beijing contenders to be reckoned with – instrumental rockers Stranding Imbrium and red hot garage punk ruffians Pizza Face. Between the sweltering punk rock mosh-pits, the spine-tingling melodies and the graceful post-rock landscapes is where we’ll find solace tonight.

Finding the atmospheric and textual beauty within the confines of math and post-rock, Shanghai Qiutian offers a fresh take of the genres that have flooded the earholes of Chinese audiences for decades. Founded in late 2018 by Basque County raised Eñaut Martí Zinkunegi and Swiss Florian Rudin in the first-tier city, the duo works their magic on their exquisite debut “New Era, Shared Future“, out now on Wild Records.
While shades of high-wire emo linger, there’s a low-key seductiveness found in the looping chords and intricate interplay found within the production. The band has expanded to five members in the past year and have already been making a splash festivals like MIDI and at livehouses across China.
A twangy energetic mix of guitar rock and art punk that’ll leave a big ol’ smile on your face, Thin City are simply put, a blast. Infectiously catchy, with a heavy dose of C86-era power pop that’ll have you humming their tunes long after, they just released their debut LP off of Shenzhen’s Boring Productions earlier this year and are following it up this month with a full-length LP – and it’s pure bliss.
Rock and roll in its purest form, a sun-soaked party from start to finish – as the band dive into everything from working girls to doomed beach trips, riding on the bubbly vocals of Catherine and Graham. There’s an anarchist spirit to the band’s sound – one that values humor, wonder, imagination and above all else — fun.
Female-led garage punk quartet Pizza Face are a Molotov cocktail of attitude and ramshackle charm that’ll have you pogoing in delight. It’s fast, it’s nasty and delicious or all the wrong reasons, the band lulls audiences into a false of security before showing their true faces, twisting the foundations of rock and roll on itself by delivering highly flammable tunes that’ll spread like wildfire the moment they hit the floor.
Rounding out the evening are Stranding Imbrium, the new instrumental rockers with a preference for crafting sublime soundscapes full of math rock acuteness, shoegaze purr, and post-rock heft. Since forming in late 2018, they’ve been earning solid word of mouth from many in the post-rock scene for the way they deftly keep your earworms trekking through valleys of eccentric guitar chords and grand mountainous melodies that’ll leave you wanting more. Expect to be hearing a lot more from these cats come the end of the year.

Shanghai Qiutian由来自巴斯克的Enaut以及瑞士的Florian为发起人，建立于上海，并在武汉Vox录制首张专辑《新时代，共享未来》——专辑名取自于进博会标语，并于野生唱片发行。
Shanghai Qiutian是一支在成立伊始，便引起乐迷间的讨论的乐队，并在新专辑的发行后，迅速和大象体操、Chinese Football占据数学摇滚新专辑榜单；
和同厂牌招牌Chinese Football合作歌曲《又是一天》；
遵循着规则却又打破规则的Math Rock风格，用奇数拍为武器营救那些渴望自由的人；
人声以及旋律优美的创作前提，让乐曲没有让人感受到数学摇滚的曲高和寡；

搭着 “来了，就是深圳人” 的顺风车，成型为一支调皮、日常、有趣的原生魂——艺术朋克乐队，用艺术拼贴的玩法创造摇滚，将乐队中东、西方文化里声音和身份的冲突结合，成为本地的一个星球共和国，唱响拼贴中光怪陆离的听觉艺术。
英式节奏与和谐的男、女合声交织在一起，乐风深受朋克、独立摇滚影响，如The Fall、Life Without Buildings、Hedgehog和Pixies。
乐队成员对普通的事物都充满兴趣，将其重组成奇妙的世界，加上隐晦怪异、片断式的歌词，使其在众多乐队中独树一帜。
他们和深圳独立厂牌无聊制造Boring Productions合作，发行了专辑《Rock City Baishizhou》和今年的春天的《Watermelon EP》。今年5月31号，乐队将在无聊制造发行一张六首歌的新EP《O不OK》，之后还有会新专辑的发行计划。

一个虚构的无头无尾的故事，没有洋流与飓风，没有争论不休，在没有空气介质的地方，自然也不会留下任何残响。组建于没有故事的公元8102年末，是一个每天都有大事发生，却又看起来没什么区别的残酷时代。这些泡在Math，Post-rock，Shoegaze中游离不定，走投无路，却又试图挣脱些什么的生物体，妄图在真空的迷途中点火，在清醒与醉梦之间找到所谓的平衡。

PizzaFace 披萨脸 (garage/punk)
乐队成立于2018年4月，名字源于忍者神龟中的反派，想要吃掉人类的PizzaFace，快速、恶心又美味。所以乐队的风格也是融合了朋克、车库和叙述者样的吉他riff。创作出发角度也大都从人类之外开启，作品有《哈雷兔子》、《燕子》、《发情的小公鸡》、《小猪哭了》等。而现场远不是歌名听起来的可爱感，女主唱释放的巨大爆发力、三位乐手精准又狂暴的表现和VJ的映衬让暴力美学在舞台上最近距离的为观众呈现

The band was founded in April 2018. The name comes from the villa who wants to feast on human flesh in the Teenage Mutant Turtles. It is fast, looks nasty and it’s delicious.
So the band style is a mix of punk, garage, and narrator-like guitar riff. The music creation are mostly composed in an animatic way. The works include ‘Harley Rabbit’, ‘Swallow’, ‘Little Cock’, ‘Piggy Cried’ and so on. The scene is far from the cute feeling of the songs names. The massive explosive power released by the female lead singer, the precise and violent performance of the other three musicians, and the VJs silhouette throw the abrasive aesthetics right in the faces of audiences. Now please put away your alcohol bottle, put your phone into flight mode, take care of your boyfriend, for our performance is about to begin.
