At this day and age that internet is touching everything, electric gadgets have become a main media for communication and building up relationships. We get a glimpse of people’s inner world and spiritual reality through communication.

After half a year since their last album ‘Rubbish Dance’, ChengDu indie rock band Code-A released their first single ‘Communication Breakdown’ from their upcoming new album. Electric music is Code-A’s expression. Connecting successfully with the tik tok sounding like a metronome. When they resonate, the power is just strong enough to recreate people’s inner reality and also their outside world. If the radio wave is gone, language even seems disabled. Left with a straight line, those once overlapped waves pointing the same end.
时隔上一张专辑《蜡笔式舞》半年之后，成都电子摇滚二人组Code-A乐队新专辑首支先行单曲《交流失败》发布。电子乐也正是Code-A乐队的表达方式，如同节拍器一般的滴答声响起，宣告着连接建立成功。当两个人的电波共振，所蕴含的能量足以参与对人内在现实和外部世界的创造。而电波消失，语言的效能失去发挥的空间。余下平稳的直线，曾经交叠的电波变成指向结局的单箭头。
The MV is a very creative short 3D animation created by a friend who has studied animation for three years. It actually delivers the message from the song quite successfully, the public hysteria of the failure of communication. They’re actually seeking another way to understand communications from other dimensions. There’s observation and thinking of this world in Code-A’s music. They’re probing into the fake communication and depressing reality through their relaxing tunes. Everything is changing. Life has been programmed and dealt with casualty. It seems we can simply make a choice like yes or no and see what we want to see. When you get disconnected one day and the radio is gone, how do you get along with yourself?
Code-A乐队邀请了一位“学了三年动画”的朋友，为《交流失败》打造了一支创意3D动画版MV，用十分纯熟的动画技术将歌曲内容表达的淋漓尽致，展示失败交流后的群体诡异式舞蹈，用另一种方式解读其他纬度空间的交流世界。Code-A乐队的作品里总隐藏着对世界的观察和思考，他们用看似轻松的旋律节拍探讨着这个时代冷漠交流的阴郁现状，洞悉正在慢慢变化的一切。在电波构造的交流空间里，生活被电子程序所操控，遭遇简单化处理。我们似乎可以轻易的选择Yes/No，也在所谓一厢情愿决定自己想要看到的一切。当某天电波消失，连接被中断，你将会如何自处？

Q: How’s it going? While many artists and bands have struggled over the past few months, it seems you two have used the time wisely and kept busy – what have you been up to?

A: Firstly, thank you for having us. During this period, we’ve done a lot – such as complete the fourth album’s recoding and mixing, as well as design our VJ set. This month, we’re launching our band’s new material. We attach much importance to time management.

Q: While the lyrics may seem simple enough on the surface, interpreting them is a whole other story. What do you view as ‘communication breakdown’?

A: When we talking about ‘communication’, it always has profound meaning for this generation. Presently, everyone has their own smartphone that makes communication costs quite cheap. So communication breaking down is inevitable. We observed it and we want to discus it. We write our lyrics usually as social observers.
“交流” 在我们这一代人中有着很深刻的意义。现在每个人都有自己的智能手机，这使得交流成本相当低廉。因此沟通总是会有障碍。我们观察并想讨论这个现象然后作为社会观察者来创作歌词。
Q: What was the decision behind choosing this form/style of animation? What was the process like? Was it as fun piecing together?
选择这种形式/风格的动画作为MV是怎么决定的？过程是什么样的？把它们拼凑在一起的过程有意思吗？
A: First off, the tune “Communication Breakdown” does sound a bit ‘stupid’. So the animation needed to correspond with it. We invited a video artist to produce this video since we watched some videos he had done that were really creative and impressive.
首先，《交流失败》这首曲子听起来有点“傻”，这样的动画是可以与之相对应的，我们邀请了一位视频艺术家制作这段MV，因为我们看了他的一些其他作品，真的很有创意，也很令人印象深刻。
Q: Like some of the best music videos out there, yours takes a simple idea and builds on it till we’ve got a parade of these ‘aliens’ dancing. Did you know where the story/concept would lead to when you began?

A: We wanted to make music that makes people dance while they’re listening. So if it works and it’s popular, we’ll be glad.

Q: When can we expect the new album? What else can fans look forward to this upcoming summer?

A: On the 27th of May, we’ll release our 3rd full album. And the 4th album is almost done. We are looking for new gigs this summer, and more new singles and material are coming soon. Please stay tuned.
