Thou my goodness – looks like the venues across town are trying to cram as much music as possible before the Chinese New Year. Get in as much as you can I say, as this might be your last chance to see some live music.

Friday

Say your goodbyes fellow beijingers cause D-22 is going out with a blast – Mongolia punkers Mohanik and shanghaiers Moon Tyrant take over the joint with support from The Flying Mantas. So head over to the Wu and pay your respects and maybe even grab some memorabilia while your there (I know I will). Yugong Yishan is throwing their own gala, bring in wide spectrum of the hottest in town – Brain Failure, Yaksa, Long Shen Dao, Hao Yun, Chiren, He Yong, and CMCB – something for everyone. If you missed huge folk turnout at Mako Livehouse on Wednesday, worry not, Mamer, Wu Tun, and Song Yuzhe are sticking around for a show tonight. In the mood for some psychedelic noise to wrap your head around – then get out of the rings and to Raying Temple where Kawabata Makoto looks to tickle your neurons with help from DJ Urine. Get your metal fix at 13 Club with Cave Have Rod and others. Or better yet, head to Temple to see local favorites Bad Mamasan. Old What? Bar hopes to get in on the rowdiness as well, hosting Reloadz and Spacebitch. Lastly, need bass? Dos Kolegas has you covered with their World’s End Basslines party that promises to last all night.

Saturday

If you missed them Friday night, no worries, Kawabata and DJ Urine bring their noise to Dos Kolegas – with support by the Tea Rockers Quintet, a team of some of Beijing’s most multi-talented folks – and if that wasn’t enough DH & the Chinese Hellcats will dance the night away after. Mao Livehouse proudly hosts old school punkers Hell City’s debut album – approitalely titled “Welcome to Hell City” – pretty much sums it up there. Down the street at Temple catch electronic duo We Are Not Invited, whose bright, colorful, and infectious music will surely get you bopping. Mako Livehouse finishes its week of folk greatness with Wan Xiaoli. For some more folk, head to Jianghu Jiuba to catch favs Chiren. Old What? Bar looks to brighten up the evening with Sunny Song’s mellow tunes, with support from Summer Breeze. Not your cup of tea – then sweat and scream it out at 13 Club, as they debut Someone’s new EP.
